Today we learned how to find the square root of a number and also how to change numbers to scientific notation format.  We will have a quiz tomorrow on these topics as well as exponents.  Your homework is to study!  I will be staying after Tuesday for Seminole Success.

Today we reviewed estimating my rounding through a few classroom activities.  We made foldables on decimals and went shopping at six different stores.  We estimated the amount of money we spent at these stores.  Everyone should have finished this in class, but if you did not, it is due Monday.  Core 2 won the contest this week, receiving the most class time minutes.

Today we learned about estimating by rounding numbers.  We practiced with this and began to prepare for our quiz on rounding and estimating with decimals.  If you did not finish the worksheet on estimating with addition and subtraction in class it is homework.  If you bring tissues or dry erase markers your class gets extra minutes for class time!  You received your quizzes back yesterday.  If you make corrections you will receive half the points back!

Today we had an assembly during Core 1 and Team Time during Core 2.  Students were able to attend Team Time if they were prepared for their classes during the first nine weeks.  There is no homework over the break.  We will begin our next unit on Monday.  If you took a fundraiser book to try to sell you need to bring it back on Monday the 30th!!!!

Today we took our test on Number Sense and Probability.  There is no homework tonight.  Tomorrow we will have Team Time during Core 2 and an assembly during Core 1.  You will be able to attend Team Time if you were prepared for your classes during the first nine weeks!  If you took a fundraiser book to try to sell on the 16th, remember to bring it back on Monday the 30th.  If you don't you will have to pay for it!

Today we reviewed for our test.  We will be taking it tomorrow!!!  I will also collect your notebooks to grade.  Study tonight and make sure your notebook is ready to be graded.  This test will include fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, probability, and tree diagrams.

Today we went over the difference between theoretical probability and experimental probability.  We also did an experiment with pennies.  There is no homework tonight.  The test is one week from today - November 24th!  Begin studying now!!!

Today we worked a little more with ratios and began probability.  If you did not finish in class, you have homework in your workbook.  C1 and C2 were assigned page 179 and C3 was assigned page 200.  We will go over it tomorrow.

Students were given a letter addressed to their parents concerning the upcoming test.  If you bring it back TOMORROW signed, you will receive 4 bonus points on your test!!!

Today we learned how to compare fractions with cross multiplication.  We also learned how to simplify fractions using the GCF.  Students were quizzed on decimal notation, ordering/comparing decimals, and improper fractions and mixed numbers.  Tonight only core 3 has homework (a page in their workbook on simplifying fractions).  Make sure your parents sign your self-assessments tonight!!!  This week it is WHITE.

Today we went over ordering and comparing fractions.  Students were given time in class to work on their homework, but if they did not finish, it is due Wednesday.  Core 1 and 2 were assigned page 52 #5-15 and #19, and Core 3 was assigned page 52 (omit #29 and 32).  They must show their work on another sheet of paper! 

There is no school tomorrow - have a great day off!  Wednesday is the beginning of the second nine weeks, so everyone gets a fresh start!

Wednesday we will take a quiz on decimal notation, ordering/comparing decimals, and improper fractions and mixed numbers.  Take some time to study before Wednesday!  Use your notes and classwork/homework to study.

In class today we did an activity working with decimal notation.  We used fruit loops, toothpicks, wafers, and a chocolate chip to help us understand place value.  We also played a card game to review ordering decimals and converting mixed numbers and improper fractions.  There is no homework tonight.

Today we are continuing to work with decimals.  By the end of today, we should be comfortable with decimal notation and comparing and ordering decimals.  Students were assigned page 3 in their workbook during class and must finish it for homework (if they have not done so already).

Today students received their progress reports and filled out their self-assessments.  The homework for tonight is to get those signed by your parents!!!  We also went over the Graph Quiz from yesterday, so students should use it to study for the unit test, which is on October 2nd.

Today students got in groups and studied the material we have covered.  We then had a competition using the material, and the winning team recieved an extra bonus point on their quiz. 

This afternoon I had my first Seminole Study session.  This is an opportunity for students to stay after with me if they need extra help, if they are missing assignments, or they simply want to work on math.  Parents, please encourage your child to stay for Seminole Study with me on Tuesdays.  They will receive a free ticket to ride the activity bus.

Today students reviewed stem-and-leaf plots by going over the homework from Friday.  During class we did a five minute drill on addition.  The rest of class was spent working in groups to review the material we have gone over so far in the Data Analysis Unit.  Students were told to STUDY TONIGHT, using their math notebooks and prior assignments.

Tomorrow we will be taking a pre-test in the computer lab.  This test is simply to see what you know now and what you know at the end of the year.  Please be sure to bring a book to read for when you finish. 

For those of you who haven't turned in your "I Am" Poem, it is due Monday.  By Monday you should also have your warm-up folder, notebook, and binder (or section in a binder). 

Tomorrow is the last day to bring your emergency card before your locker will be taken away, so please remember to bring it!
